When worry becomes something to treat
Everyone worries. Anxiety becomes a condition worth treating when it is hard to control, shows up most days, and starts to shape your life: you avoid places, lose sleep, snap at people you love, or feel your heart race on the drive to work for no clear reason.
Anxiety is also physical. Tight muscles, headaches, stomach trouble, a pounding heart and exhaustion are common, which is why many people first go to a primary care doctor or an emergency room before anyone names it as anxiety.
What we treat
Anxiety and panic
- Generalized anxiety (constant, hard-to-control worry)
- Panic attacks and panic disorder
- Social anxiety
- Health anxiety
- Anxiety alongside depression or ADHD
OCD and related concerns
- Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)
- Intrusive, unwanted thoughts
- Checking, cleaning, counting or reassurance-seeking rituals
- Anxiety after trauma (PTSD)
- Sleep problems driven by worry
If your symptoms need a more intensive level of care than office visits can provide, we will tell you plainly and help point you to the right next step.
OCD is more than being neat
OCD is not a personality trait. It is a cycle of obsessions — unwanted thoughts, images or urges that cause intense distress — and compulsions, the repeated actions or mental rituals done to make that distress go away. The relief never lasts, so the rituals grow, and they can take hours out of a day.
OCD is treatable. The approaches with the strongest evidence are medication and a specific kind of cognitive behavioral therapy called exposure and response prevention (ERP). Your psychiatrist will talk through which options fit you, including whether therapy with us or with a specialist therapist makes the most sense.
How treatment works at DaniCare
Request an appointment
Fill out the short form or call (956) 266-8476. Our team checks your insurance and confirms what your visit costs before anything is scheduled.
Psychiatric evaluation
A full conversation about your symptoms, sleep, health history, current medications and what you want to change. Some medical conditions and medications can cause anxiety, so those are checked too.
A plan you agree with
Most plans include medication management. Some patients also receive therapy with us, and others continue with a therapist they already see while we manage medication. You decide together with your psychiatrist.
Follow-up
Follow-up visits track how you are doing and adjust treatment. Many patients do these by video once the first visit is done.
Medication for anxiety and OCD
Medications commonly used for anxiety and OCD include SSRIs and SNRIs, which are taken daily and build up over several weeks. Your psychiatrist explains what to expect, how long it may take to notice a difference, possible side effects, and what happens if you would rather not start medication.
Medication is prescribed only when it is clinically appropriate, and it is reviewed at every follow-up.

Anxiety and OCD treatment in Laredo: frequently asked questions
Do you offer therapy for anxiety, or only medication?
Most patients receive medication management, and some also receive therapy with us. If you already see a therapist, you can keep seeing them while we manage medication. We will talk through what fits you at your first visit.
Do you treat OCD?
Yes. We evaluate and treat OCD in adults, teens and children, with medication and, for some patients, therapy. If you need a more intensive level of care, we will tell you and help point you to the right next step.
How do I know if it is anxiety or just stress?
Stress usually has a clear cause and eases when that situation passes. Anxiety tends to stay even when things calm down, is hard to control, and starts to affect sleep, work or relationships. If you are unsure, an evaluation can sort it out.
Can anxiety be treated by telehealth?
Yes. Telehealth visits are available to patients physically located in Texas, New Jersey or New York at the time of the visit. Many patients start in person in Laredo and continue by video.
Do I need a referral?
No referral is needed to request an appointment with DaniCare. Some insurance plans require one for coverage, so our team checks your plan when you call (956) 266-8476.
What if I am having a panic attack or a crisis right now?
If you are in danger or having a medical emergency, call 911 or go to the nearest hospital emergency department. For thoughts of suicide or emotional distress, call or text 988, the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline, available 24/7 with Spanish-language support.
This page is for general information and is not a diagnosis or medical advice. If you or someone you know is in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide & Crisis Lifeline) or call 911.
