Adult ADHD Evaluation in the Bay Area
A psychiatrist-led ADHD evaluation across San Francisco, the Peninsula, the South Bay and the East Bay — by secure video, before your first meeting.
In short: DaniCare Psychiatry provides psychiatrist-led ADHD evaluations for adults, teens and children across the San Francisco Bay Area by secure telehealth. Because our clinicians work Central time, Bay Area appointments start at 6:00 AM Pacific. There is no waitlist. Patients must be located in California at the time of the appointment. Call (956) 266-8476.

The system worked until the load went up
Most of the Bay Area adults we evaluate are not struggling in any way an outsider would notice. They are competent, often senior, and have built an elaborate personal system — lists, timers, calendars, a second calendar for the first calendar — that has held for years.
Then something shifts. A promotion into managing people. A second child. A reorganisation. The system depended on slack that no longer exists, and what was eccentric becomes expensive: missed deadlines, unread messages, the feeling of working twice as hard for the same output.
It is common to arrive at that point and assume the answer is burnout, or a discipline problem, or a character flaw. Sometimes it is burnout. Sometimes it is ADHD that has been there since childhood and was simply affordable until now. Telling those apart is a medical question, and it is the whole point of an evaluation.
Why the app did not settle it
There is no shortage of fast, slick options here, and many of them are a questionnaire with a prescriber attached. That has two problems. A rating scale cannot distinguish ADHD from an anxiety disorder, chronic sleep restriction, depression or a thyroid condition — from the outside they produce the same complaints. And a diagnosis reached that way tends not to hold up when you actually need it to, whether for an employer, a university, or another doctor.
Our evaluations are led by a psychiatrist, which means a medical doctor considers and rules out the alternatives before naming anything, and you finish with a written report that explains the reasoning rather than stating a conclusion.
Appointments before the day starts
Our clinicians work Central time, two hours ahead of you. The first appointments of the day are 6:00 AM Pacific — before standup, before the commute, before anything is on fire. Saturday appointments run in the Pacific morning.
Said plainly, because it matters: our day ends at 3:00 PM Pacific and we do not run evening appointments in your time zone. If evenings are the only workable slot, we are the wrong practice for you.
What the evaluation involves
A full history
A psychiatrist asks how attention, memory and impulsivity show up now — and how far back the pattern runs, because ADHD does not begin in adulthood even when it is first noticed there.
Ruling things out
Sleep debt, anxiety, depression, burnout and medical causes produce the same picture. They are considered and excluded before a diagnosis is made.
A clear answer, in writing
You are told what this is, what it is not, and what the options are. The written report is yours, and you decide who ever sees it.
Treatment if you want it
Medication is prescribed only when a diagnosis is made, it is clinically appropriate, and state and federal law permit it. Nothing is prescribed before it has been explained.
Cost and insurance
Coverage depends on your plan. Our team checks your specific California plan and tells you what to expect to pay before anything is booked, rather than after.
If you are between roles or on a plan that changed with the job, ask anyway — there are payment options and it is an ordinary conversation.
ADHD in adults: the numbers
Adult ADHD is common and often identified long after school.
- 15.5 millionU.S. adults (6.0%) had a current ADHD diagnosis in 2023. CDC MMWR, 2024
- 55.9%of adults with current ADHD were first diagnosed at age 18 or older, not in childhood. CDC MMWR, 2024
- 11.7%of U.S. children aged 3–17 have a current ADHD diagnosis, so many adults recognize themselves once a child is evaluated. CDC
Figures verified September 2026. Statistics describe populations, not individuals — only an evaluation can say whether ADHD explains what you are experiencing.

Bay Area ADHD evaluation FAQs
How is this different from an online ADHD app?
The evaluation is led by a psychiatrist rather than built on a questionnaire, so the conditions that imitate ADHD are considered and ruled out, and you finish with a written report that explains the reasoning.
Could this just be burnout?
It might be, and that is a real answer worth having. Burnout, chronic sleep restriction, anxiety and depression all produce the same complaints as ADHD. Separating them is a medical judgement and it is the point of the evaluation.
How early can I be seen?
The first appointments of the day are 6:00 AM Pacific, and Saturday appointments run in the Pacific morning. We do not offer evening appointments in Pacific time.
Will my employer find out?
Not from us. Your health information is protected by federal law. The written report is yours and you decide whether anyone else sees it.
Do I have to be in California for the appointment?
Yes. You must be physically located in California at the time of the visit, because that is where the licence applies.
Is it too late to be diagnosed in my thirties or forties?
No. The CDC reports that more than half of adults with a current ADHD diagnosis were first diagnosed at eighteen or older.
Is there a waitlist?
No. Call (956) 266-8476 and our team will tell you what is available.
