Why families outside Laredo wait longest
Psychiatry is concentrated in the cities. In much of South Texas the nearest psychiatrist is in Laredo, San Antonio or the Valley, which turns a routine follow-up into half a day off work and a tank of gas. Families put it off, and children go unevaluated through years of school.
A telehealth evaluation removes the drive, not the rigor: the same structured assessment, the same written report, the same psychiatrist reviewing it with you. If you would rather be seen face to face, our Laredo office is open for that too.
Zapata and Zapata County
Families in Zapata, San Ygnacio and Falcon generally travel to Laredo for specialty care. For an ADHD evaluation, that trip is avoidable: appointments happen by video from home, and a parent can join from work.
Students in Zapata County ISD who receive a diagnosis can use the written report when asking the school about a Section 504 plan. Bring it to the counselor along with report cards and teacher notes.

Hebbronville and Jim Hogg County
Hebbronville sits well east of Laredo with no local psychiatrist, so ADHD questions often stall at the primary care level or go unasked. A telehealth evaluation gives families a clear answer without a two-way drive, and medication follow-ups can continue the same way.
Eagle Pass and Maverick County

Dimmit County families face the same shortage. Evaluations, diagnosis and ongoing medication management can all be handled by video, with the written report available to share with the school or another clinician.
Rio Bravo, El Cenizo and southern Webb County
Rio Bravo and El Cenizo sit just south of Laredo in Webb County, and students there attend United ISD schools. Being close to the city does not always mean an easy appointment — telehealth avoids the trip entirely, while our Laredo office remains an easy in-person option.

Comprehensive assessment
By video or in person: attention, focus, memory and symptoms, how they show up at home, school or work, personal and family history, and screening for conditions that look like ADHD.
Written report
A clear report of findings and recommendations that you keep and can share with a school or another clinician.
Plan with your psychiatrist
Your psychiatrist reviews the report as part of a full psychiatric evaluation and works out next steps with you, including whether medication is appropriate.
Telehealth appointments require you to be physically located in Texas, California, New York or New Jersey at the time of the visit.

Do I have to drive to Laredo for an ADHD evaluation?
No. Evaluations can be completed by secure video from anywhere in Texas, including Zapata, Hebbronville, Eagle Pass, Cotulla and Carrizo Springs. In-person visits at our Laredo office are available if you prefer them.
Can my child be evaluated by video?
Yes. Children and teens are evaluated with a parent or guardian taking part. Report cards and teacher comments are useful to have on hand.
Will the report help with school accommodations?
You receive a written report of findings and recommendations that you can bring to your child's school when asking about a Section 504 plan. The school runs its own eligibility process, and the report is documentation it can consider.
What about medication follow-ups?
Follow-up visits can also be done by video, which matters most in the first months when a dose is being adjusted. Your psychiatrist will explain the follow-up schedule and any requirements for prescribing.
