The appointment that does not cost you a morning
In Los Angeles, the appointment itself is rarely the expensive part. The expensive part is the two hours around it. A 10:00 AM slot on the other side of the city means leaving at 8:30, sitting on the 405, finding parking, and writing off the morning.
Our clinicians work Central time, two hours ahead of you. Our first appointments land at 6:00 AM Pacific. You can be evaluated before the day starts, from your kitchen table, and be at work on time with nothing to explain.
The honest limit: we do not run evening appointments in Pacific time — our day ends at 3:00 PM yours. Saturday mornings are available. If evenings are the only slot that works for you, we are not the right fit, and it is better to know that now.
If your week does not look like a nine-to-five
A lot of Los Angeles works on shoots, shifts, contracts and gigs. The schedule changes weekly, the insurance changes with the job, and the standard advice — take a Tuesday afternoon off and go see someone — does not describe your life.
Two things follow. First, an appointment you can take at 6:00 AM from your own kitchen survives a schedule that moves; one that requires a fixed midweek afternoon across town does not. Second, if your coverage changes when the contract changes, you need to know what a visit costs before you book, not after. Our team checks the plan you have today and tells you plainly.
It is also worth saying that ADHD and irregular work interact badly. Without the scaffolding of a fixed routine, the difficulties show up faster and harder — which is often what finally prompts someone to ask the question in their thirties.
Spanish-language care for LA families
Almost half of Los Angeles County is Hispanic or Latino. For many households the person who needs the evaluation is comfortable in English while the parent or grandparent who remembers what childhood looked like is not — and in an ADHD assessment, that older account is evidence, because the pattern has to date back.
We can take that history in Spanish. Our practice is on the Texas border and Spanish is a working language here, not a service to be arranged in advance. Nobody has to summarise a decade of school reports through a relative acting as translator.
What the evaluation involves
A conversation, not a form
A psychiatrist takes a full history: how attention and impulsivity show up at work, at school and at home, how far back the pattern goes, and what else might explain it.
Ruling things out
Sleep, mood, anxiety, substances and medical causes all imitate ADHD. They are considered and excluded before a diagnosis is made.
A clear answer, in writing
You are told what this is, what it is not, and what your options are — and you keep the written report.
Treatment if you want it
Medication is prescribed only when a diagnosis is made, it is clinically appropriate, and state and federal law allow it. Nothing is prescribed before it is explained.
For LA parents
Los Angeles County contains around eighty school districts, from LAUSD down to small ones covering a few square miles, and they do not move at the same speed. What they have in common is what they ask for: evidence that the diagnosis affects how a child functions at school, not a letter that names a condition.
That is how our report is written — what was observed, where it shows up, and what it means for classroom work. We ask for input from school as well as home, because the pattern has to appear in more than one setting before a diagnosis can be made, and because a report built on both is the one that gets taken seriously when you hand it in.

How early can I be seen?
Our clinicians work Central time, so the first appointments of the day are 6:00 AM Pacific. Saturday appointments run in the Pacific morning. We do not offer evening appointments in Pacific time.
Do I have to be in California for the appointment?
Yes. You must be physically located in California at the time of the visit, because that is where the licence applies. It is where you are that matters, not where you live.
Is there a waitlist?

Is the evaluation done by a psychiatrist?
Yes. Evaluations are led by a psychiatrist — a medical doctor — who can rule out the conditions that imitate ADHD and prescribe when that is appropriate.
Can I be seen in Spanish?
Yes, as a matter of course rather than by special arrangement. Tell our team when you call.
Will I get a report my child's school can use?
Yes. The report describes the diagnosis and its functional impact, which is what a California school asks for when considering a 504 plan or an IEP.
Will I be prescribed medication?
Only if a diagnosis is made, it is clinically appropriate, and state and federal law permit it. No prescription is guaranteed.
